Manage Subscribers

Manage your newsletter subscribers.

A subscriber is a person who has subscribed to your newsletter. A subscriber is not verified, and won't receive any newsletter, until he clicks the verification link sent to his email.

It is possible to import subscribers. They won't receive any confirmation email, because we trust you’ve already received permission. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right to send emails to the subscribers you import.

How Someone Subscribes

New subscriptions use double opt-in: a person submits their email address, then has to confirm it by clicking the link in a confirmation email. Until they confirm, they stay unverified and are excluded from every send.

See Double Opt-In for the full flow, why it is required, and how it relates to consent and deliverability.

Confirmation Emails and Automatic Replies

The confirmation email is sent from contact@hakanai.io unless you have configured a custom domain.

Some recipient mailboxes reply automatically to incoming mail, for example an out-of-office responder or a "please confirm you are human" filter. These automatic replies are sent back to the address in the From header, not to the reply address we set for you. When you send from the default contact@hakanai.io, those automatic replies land in the Hakanai inbox and are not forwarded to you. The confirmation itself is still delivered to the subscriber, so this does not block anyone from subscribing.

If you want automatic replies (and manual replies) to reach you instead, configure a custom domain.

Removing Subscribers

Each row of the list has a Remove action in its menu. To remove several people at once, tick their checkboxes and use Delete selected. The selection is kept while you browse the list, so you can pick rows on several pages and confirm once. A single batch is limited to 500 subscribers.

Removing a subscriber deletes the record and its send history. The person is not notified, and the operation cannot be undone.
